I believe that every mother deserves excellent postpartum care. However, American postpartum care does not show us a culture that values mothers, babies, or life transitions. Motherhood is the hardest job a woman will undertake. Personal nurturing and care after a child's birth is something every woman deserves and that few women receive.
CLOSING THE BONES
Closing the Bones is a postpartum healing ceremony, to nurture the mother after her passage through giving birth, and her journey into motherhood. Its an indigenous traditional ceremony that has been used for thousands of years to bring a woman back into herself. The postpartum mother is blessed and anointed. There is a calling of her spirit back to herself as she has been a portal for carrying new life Energetically wrapping her to allow her to be fully reconnected and whole.
This ceremony is powerful for ALL women, regardless of their history. A woman, by nature, gives a lot of herself. This ceremony is a time for her to feel held, safe and nurtured, by holding the space for her to come back to her self. Many women who experience any loss or trauma, “lose” a part of themselves. Depending on the severity of the situation, they may disassociate themselves from their body to forget the act. This may be the result of sexual abuse as a child, rape, loss of a baby, divorce, childbirth or loss of a loved one.
The Closing of the Bones Ceremony is designed for women from postpartum and beyond. The ceremony is open to all women who wish to find some closure for themselves and want to take part in a sealing and renewing of spirit.
